RequiredFlare.com was founded by self-proclaimed accessory-fiend, Sai De Silva.
While she has always had an appreciation for expressing oneself by adorning
accessories, she never had plans to enter the fashion industry (aside from earning
$1 for each strand she would successfully bead for her aunt as a little girl). Sai
actually went on to study Pre-Med Biology and planned to become a doctor. Once
she realized the medical field wasn’t for her, Sai reassessed her future and decided
to go into fashion working with acclaimed designer, Alberta Ferretti.
After a few years in the industry, Sai realized there was a lack of online retailers
offering uniquely designed jewelry at affordable prices. She decided to fill this
void by creating a shopping destination where women can find accessories
that inspire individuality. Sai scoured New York City searching for the best
emerging designers that shared the same liberating approach to accessories and
RequiredFlare.com was born. Perfectly in line with Sai’s humorous personality, the
name Required Flare comes from one of her favorite comedies, Office Space, where
the restaurant "Chotchkie's" required employees to wear "at least" 15 pieces of
flare. Because at RequiredFlare.com, you can never have enough flare!
